white paper
A white paper is a report that explains a topic or problem and gives guidance, often with research behind it. NPSA lists Industry White Papers and research in a member-only section of its website as a benefit for members, along with other resources.
Why it matters
NPSA's public reports page links two items, one on safe use and compliance of modified ISO shipping containers and one on toxicology of wood treating products. The page gives no authors or dates, so check the source and date before relying on a paper. White papers help operators decide on products, safety steps and policies. A common mistake is to treat a white paper as neutral advice. Some are written by sellers. Read who wrote it, how it was made and what it leaves out. Look for dates and sources. For legal or safety decisions, ask a qualified professional.
