advocacy
Advocacy is work to represent an industry's interests to lawmakers and regulators, and to speak for it in public. NPSA says it provides advocacy leadership and guidance at the federal, state and local levels on issues of importance to the portable storage industry.
Why it matters
For operators, rules on trucking, zoning, permits, safety and taxes can change the cost of doing business. An association can speak for many companies at once and share news of rule changes. NPSA lists advocacy in its mission and as a member benefit. The pages we checked do not list specific campaigns or results, so ask NPSA staff what it is working on now. A common mistake is to think advocacy replaces your own compliance work. You must still follow current rules. Members who want to help can join committees or share local problems. Best practices are methods that an industry agrees work well and are safe, legal and efficient, and that members can copy and teach. NPSA says it works to identify best practices for portable storage in workforce management, business practices, safety and regulation compliance.
community forum
The NPSA Community Forum is a members-only online discussion board where portable storage companies ask questions and share information with peers. NPSA says it brings business and industry conversations into one organized place, so members can work together and learn from each other.
