call for speakers

A call for speakers is an open request for people to propose talks for an event. NPSA runs a Call for Speakers Program as the first step for anyone who wants to present at a future NPSA conference, or who wants to suggest a speaker.

Why it matters

NPSA asks applicants to fill out a form. It wants presentations that are interesting, informative and, ideally, entertaining. It also asks that a talk not be a sales pitch. Speakers may network and promote services during breaks and other event time. NPSA keeps the applications on file if a talk is not chosen for a given program. A common mistake is to submit a product pitch. Focus on a lesson the audience can use, such as safety, hiring, pricing or growth. Include clear takeaways. Selection is up to NPSA, and applying does not guarantee a slot.
