networking reception
A networking reception is a social event at a conference where attendees meet over food and drinks. NPSA events include receptions such as an opening reception, a new member welcome reception and a closing reception, often hosted by a sponsor.
Why it matters
Receptions help operators meet peers and suppliers in a relaxed setting. NPSA's 2026 conference schedule listed an early bird reception, an opening reception, a new member welcome reception (invite only) and a closing reception. The Milwaukee seminar had a welcome reception as well. A common mistake is to skip them to rest. Many useful talks happen there. Bring business cards, ask open questions and follow up within a week. Sponsor names appear on many receptions, so thank the hosts. Check the schedule for which ones are open to all attendees.
