With portable storage, the provider delivers a container, the customer loads it, and the provider takes it to the new address or to a storage center. The customer does not need a rental truck. ## Why it matters NPSA says portable storage helps with local moves and with real estate timing. If the closing dates do not match, the container can wait at the provider's center and then go to the new home. Items are loaded once, which lowers the risk of damage from extra handling. Customers can load at their own pace and may hire local helpers for loading and unloading. A common mistake is to book without checking the provider's limits on how long the container can stay at each address, and the fees for extra days.
