# attendee badge

An attendee badge is the name tag a person wears at a conference or trade show to show that they are registered. It usually shows a name and company. Staff at doors and sessions check it to confirm who can enter.

## Why it matters

At events such as the NPSA Conference and Trade Show, registration comes first. NPSA lists rates for members, guests and non-members, and sessions and meals are tied to registration. Badge details such as colors, scan codes or ribbons vary by event and are not described on the pages we checked, so ask NPSA staff for specifics. A common mistake is to share or lend a badge. Substitutions are allowed through the registration process, not at the door. Wear the badge where others can read it. It helps with networking and with finding people you want to meet.
